Course and Program Fees: Fall/Winter 2020-2021

As detailed in President Lenton’s message to the community on May 19, Summer 2020 courses and most Fall 2020 courses will be delivered online and remotely. Students are able to access the courses they need to progress in their programs, and we will be offering our full selection of academic programming this Fall. Regardless of delivery format, we will maintain the same high-quality learning experience for which York is known, and our course directors are developing innovative ways to enhance online instruction including adding virtual experiential activities and opportunities for students to engage with each other online. Online and remote courses offer the same course material, course credit value and degree progress as in-person courses, therefore, regardless of delivery format, our fees remain the same. Some supplementary and associated course fees, where the associated service cannot be provided online or remotely, will be waived.

Note about reporting income for OSAP applications: Any Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) or Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB) funds received should be reported as study period income and not government income. Income from those programs is subject to the $5,600 per term income exemption.

Note regarding supplementary and associated course fees for Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 academic terms:

Some supplementary fees, where the associated programming or services have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, have been reduced accordingly.

Undergraduate Athletics & Recreation (A&R) fees were previously reduced to 80% for the Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 terms. The fee has now been reassessed and reduced to 60% for the Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 terms.

Undergraduate students will be credited for the reduction in A&R fees for Fall (F) term and full-year (Y) courses on your October 2020 Statement, and for Winter (W) term A&R fees on your February 2021 statement.

Graduate student A&R fees have been reduced to 60% for the Winter 2021 term, and your student account statement will reflect this reduction.

Associated Course Fees have been waived for Fall 2020 ONLN (online) and BLEN (blended) courses. Individual Faculties may waive or reduce associated course fees for other courses as they deem appropriate.
