International Student Funding

There are scholarships and bursaries available to international students who are currently enrolled at York University. You are encouraged to review the available funding for international students and apply for all that you qualify for.
Entrance Scholarships
Entrance Scholarships are awarded once when students are first admitted to York. Some entrance scholarships are awarded automatically, and some must be applied for specifically. This page explains which entrance scholarships international students are eligible for under the heading International Applicants.
York University Continuing Student Scholarship
The Continuing Student Scholarship is distributed annually in August to students who have achieved outstanding academic results in the previous Fall/Winter and Summer sessions. The value of the awards varies proportionately with the level of academic achievement and course load. No application is required for this scholarship.
Emergency Bursary

The International Undergraduate Student Bursary is available for international students who are experiencing unexpected or emergency financial need due to unforeseen circumstances.

Visit York International's website for more information on the International Student Emergency Bursary, including the eligibility criteria.

To Apply: Submit the International Student Bursary Application Form to York International prior to the below deadline.

Notes:

  1. The bursary is not sufficient to cover tuition fee payments.
  2. All information provided in connection with this application is subject to verification by the University. Any funds received will be applied to your student account at York University. Students will be notified of the decision by email after their application has been reviewed by York International.
Undergraduate Student Bursary

The Undergraduate Student Bursary is available to international students who demonstrate financial need. The intention of the Undergraduate Bursary Program is to supplement, not replace, a student's primary sources of funding such as education savings, employment income, and parental/spousal support. Therefore, if selected to receive a bursary, it will not be sufficient to cover tuition fee payments.

Eligible students must:

  • have international student status (studying at York on a valid Study Permit and paying international fees)
  • be registered and pursuing an undergraduate degree at the time of application
  • be in good academic standing
  • be enrolled in courses at the time of application

Both full-time and part-time students who meet the above criteria are eligible to apply.

To Apply: Complete your Student Financial Profile.

Note: All information provided in connection with this application is subject to verification by the University. Any funds received will be applied to your student account at York University. Students will be notified of the decision by email after their application has been reviewed by Student Financial Services.
